What The Bible Says About._ImgID1

Healing and God’s Promises

In the Bible, we read that it is not God’s will or desire that humans be sick and diseased. In the beginning, God made all things well and perfect. There was no trace of ill-health or sickness.  Today there are sickness, disease, ill-health and all sorts of deformities in all living beings. Why is this? In Matt. 13:24 Jesus answered this question by saying that an enemy (satan) “has done this.” While God can heal sickness immediately neither He nor His followers always do so; many times God allows people to succumb to their sickness and die. Despite this permissive will, we must nevertheless trust Him until He explains why in the New Age. It is not ours to find fault with God, but it is ours to trust Him in the darkness.  Let us look at one of the many ways that God deals with this sorry event of sickness and disease and death.

Gen. 1:31 In the beginning God made all things very good, perfect

Rom. 6:23 Sin brings death, disease and ill-health.

Matt. 19:26 Only God can remove sickness and disease permanently

James 5:14-16 We are asked to call for anointing, confession, and prayer for sick

Isa. 41:10 God promises to uphold and support us by His strength

Ps. 41:3 God promises us to be with us in our sick-bed and comfort us

Ps. 23:4 With God by our side we can trust Him in the valley of the shadow of death

Ps. 37:34 Wait on the Lord and He will…

Ps. 46:10 Be still and know that I am God…

Rev. 21:4 In God’s time there will be no more pain, sickness or death, forever gone.

Nahum 1:9 Never again shall sin that causes affliction ever exist-we shall be free at last!
