PASTOR RON:

For the sake of peace, security, and unity in our world where terror reigns, where hatred and disunity grip the various religions, and where ethic displeasure is rife, is it not better, and is it not a godly thing, to drop all religious differences and unite as one with our governments, and to accept their laws that seek to bring us together, even though these laws may be opposed to biblical laws?

Dear Reader,

It is with a very sad heart that questions like this are answered, for this question presupposes that the path to unity, peace, and security among mankind, is based on everyone accepting laws by governments which are geared to that objective regardless of how they stand before the Supreme God.

While it is true that governments seek to bring peace and security in society, the question is, will human laws bring about peace, security, and happiness?  This question has already been tested and answered convincingly.  The six thousand years of humanity’s existence upon this earth have resolutely shown that human laws do not bring peace and security, nor unity.  If they do it is only for a limited time. History shows that human laws often bring terror, disunity, dissatisfaction, disaffection, sickness, and death.  We promote drugs-drinking and smoking, and death and sickness result; we make laws, and people are marginalized, imprisoned, and depreciated.  Much of our legislation, instead of enhancing, it impoverishes, and excludes many.  Often times our human laws instead of making us moral and pure, make us immoral and impure.

Friends, there is only one way that humanity can have security, peace, and happiness.  This way is found in the Word of God.  God is the Father of all men, and He knows best how to bring peace and security among men.  And He has told us clearly how to achieve it, but we stubbornly reject His counsel for our own laws and devising.  Here for example is what He says:

(John 12:32 KJV) “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”

And again He says to us:

(Isa 45:22 KJV) “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”

Men, nations, and governments sometimes seek to make themselves gods to control and regulate society in their own ways.  And in so doing they flagrantly reject the laws of God, their Father, which can only bring the peace and security they seek for.  Many men feel that in order to wisely govern society they need to look to their own studies and experiments, and researches, and pay little attention to what their heavenly Father says.  By their own studies they seek to enhance society.  However, because man is sinful and has rejected the cure for sin offered by his God, he will continue to fail.  Peace and security will forever be an elusive dream.  Concerning wisdom for righteous government here is what the Bible says:

(Psa 111:10 KJV) “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments.”

And again God says:

(Job 28:28 KJV) “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”

These texts tell us, friends, that the only way to peace and security and unity is through God and His laws which lead us from evil.  When man passes laws that are contrary to God’s laws, then instead of bringing peace and security, he will reap terror, tears, no tomorrows, for he will destroy himself.  Therefore, while Christians seek to obey their governments, they must give priority to God’s laws first and foremost when human laws conflict with God’s laws; for it is God’s laws that will guarantee our survival.

May God give us the wisdom to know the difference between seeking to unite mankind, and seeking to reject God and His laws.  God bless.
