The Seven Last Plagues of Revelation 16. Pt. 3

        We saw that the plagues God sent on Egypt to free His enslaved people Israel were not a capricious act of God.  We also noted that God often plagued nations, or directly intervened on Israel’s side, when they attempted to liquidate the Jews.  Israel was created by God to be a beacon of light to the world of God’s plan of salvation.  Because Israel refused to worship the false Gods of nations around her, these nations joined together to destroy this Jewish nation.  Israel also stated that their God would not let them intermingle with these heathen nations, and neither were they to intermarry with them.  

        These ‘peculiarities’ raised the ire of the nations even more against the Jews.  While today it is true that the Jewish nation is no longer the special people appointed to take the Good News of God’s acts of salvation to this sinful and rebellious world, the principle remains true that the Christian church which inherited that role as missionaries to the world will be shielded from destruction at the hands of the godless and rebellious.  And while many in the Christian church today may abrogate this role and be divided into warring factions, God has, however, selected a biblical Christian church to perform this role. The prophecies tell us that Christianity in the main will unite with the godless world in persecuting those Christians who remain faithful to the Bible and its teachings.

        We see clearly in our world today that when informed people refuse to follow the ‘narrative’ of their governments over issues like when they should worship God, how to keep their bodies healthy and how they should bring up their children, they are not welcomed and are sometimes shunned and even ostracized.  Citizens and government often utilize the expression ‘for the common good’ of all to force obedience to laws which strictly speaking have little to do with the safety and rights of citizens.  Indeed, it is true, God instructs us to pray for our leaders and to obey them in the Lord, see Romans 13, and that we must, but when governments make laws that are contrary to the laws of God, rather obey God than man, Acts 5:27-29, regardless of the consequences.  It is in times like these when biblical Christians are persecuted and attacked, that God, according to His wisdom, will mightily intervene on behalf of His people.  And the seven last plagues in Revelation 16 will be one of those methods that God chooses to protect His people.  The only way to avoid the seven last plagues coming upon this world is to remain faithful to the teachings of God as found in the Bible.

        The world today has quite largely rejected the teachings of God; no longer do men see themselves as created after the image and likeness of God.  Mankind feels that they are accountable to no other being than themselves; measuring themselves by each other they have become unwise, having no higher guide than sinful, rebellious humans, 2Cor. 10:12.  With this behaviour in the fore, the godless are now attacking those who adhere to the teachings of God, hence, there is coming a slew of plagues that will devastate humanity when their probation is closed. Let it be known that Holy Writ teaches that during this time of trouble God will completely protect His people, while they will endure the ravages coming upon the earth their bread and water shall be provided.  For forty years God fed and protected His people Israel while journeying to the Promised land, Canaan. He is well able to do it again at the end of this world for His people, Exodus 16:11-31.  Great will be the destruction of men, women, and children during these times of the ‘perfect’ rebellion against God, the only source of protection and restoration.  Men will have passed the redline of His care for them.  Their allegiance is now complete, choosing satan and his evil host instead of God.  Then will come the plagues to protect God’s righteous followers from the rebellious.

        Notice that the first five plagues of sores, blood, global heat and darkness over the seat of the beast (headquarters of the chief leader of the rebellion against God, recognized as the Vatican by the Reformers and other students of Bible prophecy, articles) all demonstrate that God is the ruler of the earth and not man; they cannot protect themselves even as they seek to inflict death, injury, and disease upon their fellowmen.  Covid-19 is a prime example. In dealing with this man-made disease, Governments sort to force injections upon their citizens. These injections have killed and injured millions.[i]^{,[ii],[iii],[iv]}  Similarly, before the plagues are unleashed, Revelation 13:11-17 tells us that people were forced to worship the beast and its image.  Yet in His mercy, God pleads with humanity not to do so lest they receive the punishment of God in the form of plagues.  Yet men persist in rejecting the warnings of God not to unite in global worship of the beast and its image.  At the onset of these plagues, man’s probationary time to get right with God and be prepared for the Coming of Jesus Christ will come to an end.

        During these last plagues, humanity demonstrates what it will be like to be under the control of satan; instead of turning to God in repentance, they blaspheme Him and seek to kill those that obey Him.  Just as God had to deal with Pharoah who boasted, “who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice and let Israel Go? I do not know the LORD and moreover, I will not let Israel go” (Exo. 5:2), so has He to deal with the seat or headquarters of those that defy Him and teach and force men to deny Him also.  Revelation 16:10-11 tells us that their kingdom was plunged into darkness and that they, due to the sores of plague one, cursed God and did not repent, confirming their rebellion against God.  Under the sixth plague the leaders of this rebellion, the dragon (satan), the beast (the Vatican who unites global rebellion against God’s commandments) and the false prophet (Protestants who unite with the Papacy in this rebellion against the commandments of God) all get together for the final ‘showdown’ against God and His followers.  As the wicked attack God’s people to finally rid the earth of them, God intervenes, He rains on the cowardly attackers great hail weighing 100 pounds.

        With the seventh plague, the plagues come to an end; the wicked are eventually destroyed at the return of Christ for His followers.  The questions you and I have to answer, folks, are, are we ready for Jesus to come?  Are we telling our friends and neighbours about this great and final event?  Do we really believe all of this? If we do not, what will we do when we witness all of these things happening? If men were able to create a disease and have it spread globally and command everyone to be injected and be subjected to other restrictions of their liberty, cannot God likewise punish rebellious humanity for seeking to disregard His commandments which are the only source of life and happiness on earth, and seeking to destroy His followers?  Yet while men planned the introduction of this virus into society very deceptively and purposefully, God in His mercy did not act similarly.

        God on the other hand sent warning after warning to everyone on earth of the impending destruction of society and of the inauguration of His new kingdom with only those who were obedient to His Word, the Bible.  In the Old Testament God spoke of the removal of all wickedness and evil from the earth.  We read in Isaiah 65:17, 25 (ESV): “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind…The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain” says the LORD.

        This theme is beautifully matched in Revelation 21:1-8 (ESV) where the prophet John writes, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. ² And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. ⁴ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
⁵ And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also, he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” ⁶ And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty, I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. ⁷ The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

        My sincere wish for you my friends is that you do not let this opportunity slip. We have no control over the future, tomorrow could be too late.  While it is Today (the present ) please do not harden your hearts as the Bible writers ask of us, Ps. 95: 7, 8 and Hebrews 3:7, 8.  May you pay heed to these warnings of God so you may enjoy the lovely earth that God has prepared for those that love Him.  May God bless you all.
