The Soul
1. When God made Adam He called him a living soul. Gen. 2:7.
2. Adam became a living soul only when God breathed into him the breath of life. Gen. 2:7.
3. “Soul” therefore means an individual, or any living being. Gen. 17:14; Lev. 5:4; Lev. 17:10;Rev. 16:3.
4. If “soul” means a living being, then it can die. Gen. 27:4; Num. 9:13; Ps. 89:48; Eze. 18:4.
5. Since “soul” means breath, when a man dies the breath “goes” back to God. Gen. 35:18.Ecc. 12:7;
6. “Immortal” means living forever. Only God is immortal. 1Tim. 6:16; Deut. 33:27; Ps. 90:2;
7. Human beings will be given immortality only when Jesus returns the second time. 1Cor. 15:52-55; Rom. 2:6, 7; 2Tim. 1:10.
8. If only God is immortal, then it is wrong to say that the “soul” is also immortal. 1Tim. 6:16.
9. If the soul is not immortal, then it can die, for it simply means an individual. Rev. 16:3;Eze. 18:4.
10. “Soul” and “spirit” both mean breath, life, or in other words, an individual. Job 12:10;Job 27:3; Is. 42:5.
